Eva Longoria Parker attempts to convince directors her characters should hug instead of kiss, because she hates smooching with anyone who isn’t her husband.
The Desperate Housewives actress has just celebrated her first wedding anniversary with basketball star Tony Parker and she can’t get used to the idea she has to lock lips with strange men on the big and small screen.
She tells Latina magazine, “I always try to talk my way out of kissing scenes: ‘Do they really need to kiss in this part? Can’t they just hug?’ The directors are like, ‘No!’”
And she isn’t the only member of the Desperate Housewives cast who shudders at the thought of a kissing scene - her onscreen husband would prefer not to have to kiss her.
She adds, “Ricardo (Chavira) hates kissing me. We are both not really fond of the kissing scenes.”

Eva Longoria has taken her name out of the running for this year’s Alma Awards.
At the announcement of this year’s 2008 nominees, the actress explained how she wanted to shine the light on some fresh blood: “Everybody knows Desperate Housewives, let’s recognise the people that you may not know are on certain shows.”
She was excited for her Desperate Housewives co-star Ricardo Chavira (who play’s Carlos) and his nomination for Best Supporting Actor: “Oh yes!” but she hurridly added “I had nothing to do with that, it was all him.”
Eva may not pick up a gong, but she’s executive producer and hosting this year’s ceremony. The actress explained why the event is so personally important to her: “I think the only person that I knew who was Latino when I was growing up was Rita Moreno on West Side Story. There weren’t a lot of Latino role models.
“That’s why the Alma Awards are so important because we celebrate and recognise and honour the contribution of Latinos.”

Since marrying basketball star Tony Parker, Eva Longoria has been a familiar face courtside. Now the actress has travelled to France to watch an extra-special game – seeing her brother-in-law in action.
T.J. Parker was playing in Nancy, where his team is based, and Eva and Tony were not going to miss the excitement.
The couple were not the only members of the Parker family enjoying the game. Younger brother Pierre was also cheering his athletic sibling on, alongside dad Tony Senior, a former basketball player himself.
And it seems that all the support of his family helped T.J. on the court. His team defeated playoff rivals Lyon 104 to 89.
Eva, meanwhile, kept her stylish, bright red coat buttoned up throughout the game, hiding any signs of the “bump” that earlier last week led to reports she was expecting her first child.

The Desperate Housewives star wants to be able to converse with her basketball husband Tony Parker in his native language.
She said, “I’ve sworn to myself that I’m going to be able to speak passable French this year. I should be working on it right now, to tell you the truth, but I’m having fun being relaxed and laid-back and I don’t want to get stressed out. But at some point this year, I’m going to take serious French lessons because I want to be able to understand Tony when he speaks French with his family and friends. Even though Tony always translates for me, I feel a bit isolated from his family and I want to overcome that and feel closer to them by learning the language.”
Eva also said she wants her children to be trilingual – fluent in French, Spanish and English. She added, “Tony and I want to make sure that our children grow up both in America and in France and that they will be trilingual. Tony will speak to our kids in French and I will teach them Spanish and of course, we would also both speak to them in English.”
